Employment projections from the Bureau of Labor Statistics suggest it’s a great time to be a travel nurse. According to the 2012-2022 employment projections, the RN workforce is expected to grow 19 percent with net new jobs-from 2.71 million jobs in 2012 to 3.24 million in 2022.

Furthermore, the Bureau projects the need for 525 thousand replacement nurses. An article published on renowned travel nursing hub TheGypsyNurse.com says this is mainly due to retirement and attrition, and together the number of job openings for nurses will reach 1.05 million by 2022.
